What a momentous Saturday!!!At the Blackwater Barge Match 2018. This is the “George Smeed “ circa 1883 and a well known fixture of Cooks Barge Yard. Having spent most of her rebuild life at Cooks Yard on the Campshed. Ralph, Topsail Charters Shipwrights has worked on her since he was an apprentice 45 years ago on and off.
Over the last year she has been re-rigged at Cooks Yard. She hasn’t sailed for 62 years Saturday was her first sail out and she placed second. She was also award a special prize for her first voyage out and Ken and Carol were clapped to the stage in an emotional sea of whistles, tears and smiles.
What a Special day and massive congratulations the owners Ken & Carol who lived and worked as well as raising a family onboard over the years. We couldn’t be more delighted.
